I'm having fun while staying aware that I'm embroidering on Phy Ly's gown

My template isn't quite there yet, but it's growing on me. The talented Phy Ly made the Gespaa theme on which mine is based. Are you at all interested in what I was thinking when I tinkered with it? I'll tell you anyway.

I thought I'd try out my idea of just having a plain orange square stand for an RSS feed
I didn't make it XML orange, but greyed it down to something more like burnt orange
I liked the orange with the slate blue, so I make the post heads about the same color, and snuck the color into the left and right wrapper borders, and greyed it down a bit more and stuck it on top.
I gave the body bg a little more texture. Phy's background image is ingenious. This is it enlarged 1600%:
